These need to be umpires that are more mature and able to coach as they umpire. Umpires learning how to umpire do not have the skills to manage the sidelines, when to coach the game and to not let the coaches take over.
Breaks for all games are 3, 5, 3 minutes
UMPIRES DUTIES:
A list of umpires and games will be in the club rooms each week. Umpires are required to come into the club rooms to sign in, collect ball for match and go to court with their Co-umpire for the game. A fill in umpire will put their name down in place of the allocated umpire.
-
Umpires are required to check in at the Clubrooms 10 minutes prior to the match.
-
All umpires to the best of their ability are to check during the line-up that players are wearing the CORRECT REGISTERED uniform. They need to look uniform and be safe to play. The finer points of the uniform is often only known by the committee and the uniform convenor will deal with these breaches of policy. If in doubt please check with management.
-
No jewellery is to be worn by players. There cannot be any beads or clips in hair that can cause an injury to another player. There may be some exemptions to wearing ear studs inside the ear for migraine management but these players will have a red exemption card which they need to produce when asked.
-
Umpires may not delay the start of a match for late players except when that player has been umpiring in the previous round.
-
Scorecards must be signed by both umpires after the match.
-
Score cards must be placed by the umpire into the Scorecard Box in the Clubrooms after the game and match ball returned.
-
U9 (GO1, GO2, SET) umpires must score the sportsmanship points else they will be fined as failure to do this disadvantages the teams. Failure to do so will incur a $10.00 fine. Information on how to score them is available in the umpires’ office.
-
Failure to supply an umpire will result in a forfeit and late forfeit fees will apply, $50.
-
Umpires shall wear white or cream clothing. No dark coloured tops, Black Pants may be worn. ENA has a uniform which can be purchased. See ENA management
-
New umpires can elect to be a green shirt umpire and have a green shirt to distinguish that they are learning. Clubs will be managing this training, ENA will support. If you join the Green Shirt program you can purchase a shirt through them or you can purchase one of ENA’s.
-
Umpires wishing to become badged need to talk to ENA management and we will help facilitate this process
